HOW IT FITS YOUR WORK

A practical production companion

The pack is a set of instructions and tools used inside a compatible assistant. It does not provide a video editor or channel dashboard.

  1. 01

    A clear idea

    Define the audience and promise.

    /yt-script
  2. 02

    Ready to produce

    Align script, title and thumbnail.

    /yt-package
  3. 03

    A useful next step

Read your data. Improve one thing.

    /yt-retention

The figures above describe what is included, not measured performance or a promise of more views. Read the documentation

YOUR FIRST TRY

Start with the task in front of you

Choose a task and copy the example into your assistant after setup. Replace bracketed text with your own material.

AN EDITABLE EXAMPLE/yt-script
Turn an idea into a script
/yt-script
Write a six-minute beginner tutorial on organizing research notes. Use my voice profile, show two scored opening options, and invent no results.

This example does not run AI on this website or send your files to a service. The copy button only copies text.

THE SKILL DIRECTORY

11 skills. One clear job each.

YOU SUPPLY
A timestamped SRT, VTT or Whisper JSON transcript.
YOU GET
Timed suggestions for pauses, filler and restarts. Check them against the footage; the tool does not cut it.
Prompt & source
/yt-edit
/yt-edit
Review transcript.srt for pauses, filler and restarted sentences. Give me a timecoded cut list and flag anything to check against the footage.

04/yt-comment

Prioritize comments and replies

Start with the questions and corrections worth answering.

YOU SUPPLY
Comments you paste and examples of your voice.
YOU GET
Questions, corrections, praise and bait grouped separately, concise draft replies and one pin suggestion. You post them.

Available hours, partly finished material and channel priorities.
YOU GET
A schedule with formats, ideas, estimated effort and what to drop first if time runs out.
Prompt & source
/yt-plan

06/yt-viral

Study unusually strong ideas

Compare a video with its own channel, not a bigger one.

YOU SUPPLY
Public listings or supplied JSON, with at least 4 videos per channel.
YOU GET
Views divided by the channel median in your sample, title patterns and one adaptable structure. This is not a virality formula.
Prompt & source
/yt-viral
/yt-viral
Review these public videos in my niche. Compare each with its channel's collected median, disclose sample and age limitations, and suggest one structure I can adapt.

07/yt-retention

Understand retention drops

Connect drop intervals with what was being said.

YOU SUPPLY
A retention CSV, full duration in seconds and an optional timestamped transcript.
YOU GET
Opening loss, steep intervals and overall decline, with one suggested change. Numbers alone cannot prove why viewers left.
Prompt & source
/yt-retention
/yt-retention
Analyze retention.csv for this 600-second video alongside transcript.srt. Identify the largest drop interval, quote the nearby passage, and suggest one change. Separate observation from interpretation.

08/yt-shorts

Find moments for Shorts

Look for self-contained stories inside a longer video.

YOU SUPPLY
A long-video transcript with timings.
YOU GET
5 candidates targeting 20–55 seconds, fresh openings, screen text and vertical-framing notes. It does not render video files.

GET SET UP

Install from the original source

The documented workflow uses Claude Code. You need Python 3 for the six tools, and Git for the manual clone route. No additional Python packages are required.

Review the files before installing a skill.

Back up any existing skills with the same names.

No YouTube API key or channel connection is needed.

Full installation guide
01

Install the pack

Inside Claude Code, use these plugin commands:

Commands inside Claude Code
/plugin marketplace add Jakeschincariol/youtube-agent-skill
/plugin install youtube-agent
I prefer the manual route

Run these in your terminal. Keep all 11 directories together because some tools import sibling files. Project-local installation in .claude/skills/ is also supported.

Manual installation
git clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/youtube-agent-skill.git
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
cp -r youtube-agent-skill/skills/yt-* ~/.claude/skills/
02

Give it your voice

Complete voice.md with your audience, speech examples, preferred wording and claims boundaries. Save it at ~/.claude/youtube/voice.md. Leave out private information the task does not need.

Open the voice template
03

Try a small task

Ask the assistant to confirm /yt-script is available, then try one idea. Check the facts and tone yourself before recording, and review any cut suggestions against the original footage.

BEFORE YOU RELY ON IT

Useful assistance. Essential judgment.

Your data and privacy

Never put passwords or API keys in prompts. Reference research uses public data without signing in as you. The reviewed scripts are local, but files supplied to the assistant follow its provider's data policy.

Project boundaries

Free code, possible running costs

The pack is MIT-licensed. Claude plans or model usage and any separate transcription service have their own costs. There is no documented fixed price per video.

Scores are editing guidance

A hook score does not predict views. An outlier multiple compares with the median of your collected sample without controlling for age or format. Use real data and never fill gaps with invented numbers.

How scoring works
Using retention data? Prepare the file carefully

Use a two-column CSV: percentage position in the video, then retention from 0 to 100, with at least 8 points in ascending order. Supply the full duration in seconds. The parser takes the first two numeric cells in each row rather than selecting named columns.

Positions up to 100.5 are automatically treated as percentages, which can misread a seconds-based file for a short video. Drop intervals do not establish the exact second or cause of departure.

QUICK ANSWERS

Before your first try

Does it publish videos or post replies for me?

No. It creates drafts, plans and review lists. You upload videos, edit footage, send replies and pin comments using your usual tools.

Is it free?

The code is free under MIT, and the pack itself needs no YouTube API key or account connection. Claude plans, model usage and separate transcription services may cost money. Check your provider's current prices.

Does it work in Arabic?

You can request Arabic drafts and instructions from the assistant, but hook, title, filler and formula language checks are mainly built for English. Their scores should not be used to validate Arabic. Timing and numerical calculations are less language-dependent.

Does a high score mean a video will go viral?

No. Scores are editing heuristics, not view predictions. The yt-viral ranking compares videos with the channel sample you supply; it does not isolate video age, format or sampling bias.

Do I need Claude Code?

Claude Code is the documented installed workflow, with Python 3 for the six tools and Git for the clone route. You can paste one SKILL.md into a chat as instructions, but that alone does not install or run its Python tools.

Does all data stay on my computer?

The six reviewed scripts read local files and use Python's standard library without network calls. Files and text supplied to the assistant still enter your provider's processing workflow and data policy. The entire experience is not necessarily offline.

START SMALL

One idea. One review. A better-prepared video.

Choose a skill for the step slowing you down, then judge its usefulness by the work you actually complete.
